Inside a Northwest Contemporary Custom Home That Brims with a Balance of Masculine and Feminine Energies
Ready to design your dream home?
The custom home features a timeless all-white kitchen, a glass-walled wine cellar, and a light and bright color palette throughout.
This custom home project was purchased for its lake and city views, but the previous house wasn't suitable. The original structure was demolished, and new plans were designed with the architect to build from scratch.
This design's masculine-feminine energy pulls and plays with equilibrium. A bright neutral interior balances the outside wood and stone.
Steel panels on a glass column that form the internal staircase highlight the male element of steel, yet delicate touches like the dining room light fixture that balances with the wood ceiling bring feminine vitality.
A spacious, white, bright kitchen with an expansive island, pantry, and prep kitchen behind the main kitchen is functional, elegant, open and airy. Spherical chrome pendants hang over the kitchen island, softening the room.
The kitchen has two refrigerators: a stainless entertaining size Sub-Zero in the main space that complements the all-white cabinets and chrome lights, and a smaller paneled one in the pantry prep kitchen.
The primary bathroom, with two large vanities and an open-concept shower, is similarly vibrant. A fireplace and neutral colors make the primary bedroom inviting.
The mid-house column staircase has an open-tread stairway with a bespoke chandelier.
The basement has a wood bar, pool table, and special wine cellar with glass walls. The seating area's understated white and cream colors draw the tension.
The muted color palette, natural elements, and different textures create a cohesive, peaceful, and inviting room while softening the masculine steel, stone, wood, and glass.
The clients appreciated indoor and outdoor entertaining. They wanted inviting, comfortable outdoor spaces to compliment their interiors.
The tension carried outdoors with more than ten skylights on the upper porch providing natural light and external exposure while staying protected from the elements.
Color, texture, curves, and delicate accents soften this home's heavier features. The customized home has a balanced masculine-feminine energy inside and out making it effortlessly liveable.
